Marilyn E. Loechl, age 96 of St. Charles, Illinois passed away October 11, 2022 comfortably at home surrounded by family.
Born August 21, 1926 to James and Olive Waters in Chicago, Illinois, she grew up in the Portage Park neighborhood where she met her future husband Richard; they remained in contact through letters during his service in the Pacific Theater during World War II, and were married in 1948. A long time resident of Elmhurst, Illinois, Marilyn was an active member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. A devoted mother of seven boys and two girls, she suffered no nonsense or fools. Her biting quips and sense of humor left fond memories that will bring a laugh, a smile, and some levity to the family and friends who loved her so dearly as they mourn her passing. Marilyn later retired to St. Charles, Illinois where she and her husband were founding members of St. John Neumann Catholic Church, and where she was a long serving member of the choir. Marilyn was an avid world traveler whose journeys encompassed all seven continents. From posing for photographs in front of the Acropolis, to dancing tango in Argentina, and sailing to Antartica, she made countless friends along the way. A lover of food, theatre, opera, and wine, she was always the life of a party and did her best not to miss one. Her life was one well lived and full, we should all be so lucky.
Marilyn is survived by 9 beloved children; Richard, (Patti) Jr., James (Pat), Jan Marie (Willard) Frank, Timothy (Mary Lynn), Christopher, Paul (Suzanne), Matthew, Andrew (Joan), Amanda (Kerwin) Miller, 16 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and four sisters; Patricia Payleitner, Eileen De Lance, Carol Wolff-Malecki (Jerry), and Joyce Sasso.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband Richard E. Loechl, Sr. brothers-in-law Norman (Buzz) Payleitner, Eugene De Lance, George Wolff, and Richard Sasso.
A Memorial Visitation will be held from 9:30 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. Monday, December 5, 2022 at St. John Neumann Catholic Church 2900 E. Main Street, St. Charles, Illinois 60174. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated following the visitation at 11:00 A.M. at St. John Neumann Catholic Church. Burial will be private.
