Mark A. Mendel, age 63, of St. Charles passed away Saturday evening, May 12, 2018 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Mark was born July 25, 1954 on Eglin Air Force Base, Florida. The son of Charles and Jacqueline Mendel.
After graduation from Maquoketa High School in Iowa, Mark proudly served from 1972-1976 in the United States Navy, which included time spent in the Vietnam War. He was employed by Haumiller Engineering in Elgin Illinois from 1982 until his retirement in 2009.
Mark is survived by, his wife Marty of almost 40 years. They have two children; Jesse (fiancé Mary Finkler) Mendel and Rolyn (Joseph) Kohn. Two grandchildren; Mark and Carolyn Kohn. He is also survived by his parents, and his three brothers; Charlie Mendel, Steve (Kathy) Mendel and Michael (Lisa) Mendel as well as many more truly loved family members and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his sister Cathee Jay.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday May 19th at The Well, 33w835 Cherry Lane Geneva, Illinois from 2:00pm to 4:00pm, followed by a Service at 4:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family has set up a fund to support District 303 Special Education Classroom Enhancement. Please make donations payable to CUSD 303 in memory of Mark Mendel, in the memo, 201 S. 7th Street, St. Charles, IL 60174.
