Mark Aaron Duncan, 68, died Monday, May 1st 2023.
Son of James and Shirley Duncan, Mark was born on September 26th, 1954 on a naval base in California. He lived at Pearl Harbor until age 7 and spent the rest of life in the St. Charles area. After graduating from NIU, he married the love of his life, Diane McLaughlin Duncan, on June 18, 1977. Mark took great pride in raising his two sons and rooting them on at all their athletic events. During his career, Mark worked his way up to CFO for companies including Pheasant Run, Winner Hotels, and Mendel Plumbing.
Mark was a sit-down comedian. He always said “come laugh with me” and had a way of bringing others joy. He saw the best in people and did not hesitate to express his love and pride for his family. Lover of good music, interesting recipes, the Chicago White Sox and the Chicago Blackhawks- Mark was witty and his mind was sharp. Mark was a life-long learner. He loved writing with his friends, woodworking, researching, watching classic tv shows, and playing games, but nothing brought him more joy than hanging at home with his family.
Mark was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law and friend David Town. He leaves behind his loving and loyal wife of 46 years Diane McLaughlin Duncan, adored sons Ryan (Melissa) Duncan, Daniel (Kate) Duncan, four cherished grandchildren, George, Grace, Lucie, and Lennie Duncan; sister-in-law Donna Town and brother-in-law Robert (Janet) McLaughlin, as well as other dear family and friends, especially his best friends Bill Kekeris and Doug Riebock. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Mark’s life at a visitation on Friday May 5th, 2023 from 4-6pm, followed by a memorial service at 6pm at Yurs Funeral Home of St. Charles, 405 East Main Street (Corner of Rt. 64 and Rt. 25). In lieu of flowers, donations in Mark’s memory may be made to the American Heart Association or American Cancer Society.
