Mary Bridget Summerwill, age 53, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, March 24, 2019 in St. Charles, Illinois. She was born in Cincinnati, Ohio where she grew up surrounded by her four siblings and loving parents, James and Barbara (Bradley) O’Connell. She loved to be around others and was always outgoing, performing in various theatre roles and frequently trying new things. Bridget attended Mother of Mercy High School and graduated from Marquette University in 1987 with a degree in Marketing and Finance. Her career as a personal banker brought her to Chicago where she met her husband of over 26 years, Jeffrey Summerwill. Jeff and Bridget were married on September 12, 1992 and continue their everlasting love for each other to this day. Bridget was a vice president at The Northern Trust Co. for 17 years, serving as an incredible and devoted private banker. In October of 1997, Bridget gave birth to her first son, Thomas William Summerwill. Not long after, in July of 1999, Bridget had her second child, Ryan James Summerwill. The family of four moved soon after to St. Charles, a western suburb of the city, surrounded by new friends and a loving community. Bridget left her job in 2007 to raise her boys and give back to others in the community. In 2012, She started in a new position at Coveted Financial Services where she served as Vice President of Client Development.
Bridget was an intelligent, enthusiastic, and beautiful woman who always made others feel valued and whose presence would always light up the room. She loved her sons with all her heart and was the best mother they could ever ask for. She provided a support system for so many people and touched the lives of everyone she met. Bridget and her husband were deeply in love and will be remembered as eternal soulmates. She put others before herself and always offered her home as a place of comfort for all. She will be remembered as the best mother, wife, daughter and friend anyone could ever ask for.
She is survived by her husband Jeffrey Summerwill, her sons, Thomas Summerwill and Ryan Summerwill, father James O’Connell of Cincinnati, brother Brad (Leslie) O’Connell of San Francisco, brother Brian (Sue) O’Connell of Cincinnati, sister Cecilia (Chris) Miller of San Diego, Alice O’Connell of Cincinnati, nephew Michael J O’Connell, and nieces, Kathleen Cecilia O’Connell, Sofia O’Connell, Lucy Miller and Cate Miller.

"The tears have been many since i heard the news. But immediately they turned to laughs when i remembered all the fun times we all had together as we all met when we were single and continued our friendships as we all got married and had families and grew together. So many laughs, so many great times together. You will be missed but will always be remembered especially when stories are told and we continue to laugh about the good times we all had together. "Dear Gidge, I am devastated and at a loss. Not just a bright light but a solar ray to all who you met. Your bounce when you walked and the giggle that made me giggle just hearing it. Never again hearing your raspy “Hey Ri! It’s Gidge!”on my voicemail. It’s bizarre. Even through long periods of not seeing each other while raising our kids and through our lives, we always picked up right where we left off. Jeff- sending my love to you and your handsome boys. Sending you the strength of the world. Love, Ri"

"Bridget you were the best friend anyone could ask for, and I will be lost without your advice and laughter. We shared so many years of discovery. We went to each others weddings, and shared the births of our 4 children. We watched them grow to adults and shared their accomplishments. I will cherish these memories the rest of my life. I felt a sisterhood bond with you the moment we met. Your life was cut to short, we were supposed to do those jigsaw puzzles together at the retirement community. My heart will always hold your memory close dear friend, there will never by anyone like you Bridge."
Maureen Lundy from Hopkinton, MA
"Bridget was my dear friend for nearly 35 years. We had business classes together at Marquette, and maintained a beautiful friendship over the years since college. To the family that raised Bridget, you are exceptional, and all of us who were lucky enough to be friends with her were very fortunate. Bridget embodied everything that was good in this world and she was an amazing role model. Not only would I have trusted her with my life, she was the most hysterically funny person to be around you could imagine. Bridget, I will never forget you and all of your amazing qualities. Heaven just got a whole lot more fun. I will miss you!"
Julie Hinkle Saint-Jacques from Colombes,France, OH
"May dear Bridget rest in peace, and may her children, husband, father, siblings and extended family and friends be able to find comfort in remembering all of the joyful moments they shared with Bridget over the years."
Nick Keseric from Naperville, IL
"I was truly Blessed to have worked with Bridget but more importantly, to be witness, as anyone that knew Bridget, to her energy, commitment, passion for life and her unselfishness in looking out to help others. When we would have coffee together every so often, first thing she would ask is about my family, then get around to talking business. While I will truly miss our coffee meetings, my heart will never forget Bridget."
