Mary E. Diorio, age 82, of St. Charles passed away peacefully Sunday, April 11, 2021 at Delnor Hospital in Geneva, Illinois.

She was born December 3, 1938 in Chicago, Illinois to William and Ann Murray. She was united in marriage to her loving husband Joseph Diorio October 5, 1957.

Mary is survived by her husband of 63 years, Joseph, five children; Debra (William) Wester, Joseph A. Diorio, Diane (John) Roggemann, John (Tracy) Diorio and Jim (Joanne) Diorio, sixteen grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, two brothers; William (Ruth) Murray and Larry (Margo) Murray, a sister, who was more like a daughter to her, Fran (Gene) Ziolkowski.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her daughter-in-law, Linda Diorio.

Joe and Mary met in 1955 when Mary attended Aquinas High School. They got engaged at a drive-in with her seven year old sister, Fran in the back seat who begged to try on the ring. Together they lived in the Hegewisch and South Derring neighborhoods of Chicago prior to moving to Homewood, Il in 1969. In 1999 they moved to St. Charles. She enjoyed going to Cocoa Beach where they vacationed with family for over 20 years, and many trips to Wisconsin. Other memorable trips included Spain, the Carribean, Jamaica, Cozumel, Leon in Mexico and Italy, where Capri was her favorite. She ran a successful gumball business with her neighbor and good friend, Mona.

Funeral mass will be held 10:30 A.M., Thursday, April 15^th at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 2900 East Main Street (Rt. 64), St. Charles.  Burial will be at Union Cemetery, St. Charles.  Visitation will be Wednesday, April 14, 2021 from 3-7:00 P.M. at Yurs Funeral Home, 405 East Main Street, (corner of Rt. 64 and Rt. 25), St. Charles, Illinois 60174.
