Mary L. Burr, 61, died Monday, January 8, 2024, surrounded by family.
The daughter of Robert (Bob) and Margaret (Marge) Burr, Mary was born July 27, 1962, in St. Charles, IL.
She is survived by her sister Margaret (Peg) Burr and her beloved and spirited German Shepherd, Homer.
She was preceded in death by her Mother, Marge Burr (nee Choffin) and her Father, Bob Burr.
After graduating from St. Charles High School, Mary earned a Bachelor’s in Economics from the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana. She worked in advertising with J. Walter Thompson, then took a role as a designer in the first-ever proposal center of Andersen Consulting. The majority of her career, she owned her own business, Mary Burr Design, where she specialized in concept development and package design. Over and above her creative business career, she was a master of many art forms – portrait sketch work, painting, fashion design, tailoring, knitting and crochet – not only for herself but developing custom designs for international knitting publications.
Visitation will be held January 14 from 2 – 5 PM at Yurs Funeral Home of St. Charles, 405 E. Main St. (corner of Rt. 64 and Rt. 25). "There is so much that I will miss about Mary. She was a truly remarkable person who touched many lives with her artistic talents, thoughtfulness, love of learning, and gardening skills. Her art was a reflection of her inner beauty and inspired those around her. Her thoughtfulness towards others was evident in everything she did. She poured her heart into her garden, and her love for nature and her ability to nurture life was a testament to her compassion. Mary left behind an incredible legacy, and her memory will always be cherished."

"Dear Burr Family, I am very sorry to hear about Mary's passing. I really appreciated her cards with notes inside for the past few years. We were in the same class at St. Charles HS (now East). She was always very creative. Thank you for letting me share a small part of her. May God's loving arms embrace you at this time and always."
Carolyn J. Weinert from Geneva, IL
"Peg & family, am so sorry for your loss. I had the pleasure of working with Mary in the past and will miss seeing her as I did from time to time."

"Our condolences to Mary's family. As a neighbor, we are all saddened by her passing, and will miss the daily salutations and chats with her on her daily walks. We would see each other at DCH and support each other as we both battled our health issues. She was a beautiful person and will be missed. A memoriam has been sent to the Illinois Food Bank."
