Mary Kashnowski, 85, passed away peacefully in her sleep on February 7th in hospice surrounded by the love of her family. She was deeply loved by her husband, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and their families.
The youngest daughter of Joseph and Mayme LoPresti Mary was born May 1, 1935 in Chicago, Illinois.
On May 18, 1957 she was married to Ernest Kashnowski at St. Daniels Catholic Church in Chicago. Mary was a loving wife, mother and Nana. She raised her family in St. Charles, Illinois after moving there in 1960. She was a deeply devoted mother to their 3 children. Mary had a warm and friendly personality and she had the ability to connect to you instantly! She took an interest in people she met and had a naturally strong curiosity of people and topics in this world. Mary always gave warm hugs and had a gracious smile that was infectious and endearing.
Mary was a creative cook and baker and loved to gift give her creations and share those wonderful meals with family and friends. Anyone that met her always came away feeling like they were listened to and felt her warm generosity and kind spirit. Mary had a keen mind for random facts, a voracious reader of books, and she was very savvy with technology. She also had a fighting spirit and tackled whatever came her way. Her heart to help a person in need was always available.
Mary loved to talk about her stories of growing up in a big Italian family! She cherished her roots growing up with grandparents, cousins, aunts and uncles. She spoke fluent Italian when it became wise to better off not communicate in English and that spoke volumes about her sense of humor!
Mary always wanted to leave this world a much better place because she was in it and that people mattered. She left a legacy of love that will live on in her children, grandchildren and those that were blessed enough to know her.
Mary is survived by her husband Ernie, her sons Martin (Linda) Kashnowski,
Richard ( Sue) Kash, her daughter Judy (Joel) Turk, 8 grandchildren, Daniel (Angela) Turk, Diana (Justin) Wolf, Kari Turk, Brooke Kashnowski, Katelyn Kashnowski, Jenna Kash, Lyndsay Kash, Jack Kash. 2 great grandchildren, Nina and Asher and another one on the way! Many dear nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father Joseph, her mother Mayme and her sister Theresa.
In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Ronald McDonald house or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
Funeral Mass will be held at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church at 11:00 A.M. Saturday February 13, 2021, 6N91 Crane Rd. St. Charles, IL 60175

"I will always remember Aunt Mary's smile, laugh and sense of humor. I'd say, "Rest In Peace Aunt Mary", but you ARE joining our late, crazy (yet loving), Sicilian family members in heaven...so just try to get some rest when you can. ; ) You will be missed."

"Mary's spark, quick wit and good heart were qualities that our family had the good fortune of getting to know over the many years that we have been friends. We have many fond memories of Mary ranging from numerous social occasions to simple campfires at Kelly Lake. Our deepest sympathies to the Kashnowski family at this difficult time. Mary will be missed. Mike DeWeirdt"
