Mary Rose Vincolese, age 94, of Geneva, formerly of St. Charles and Elmhurst passed away Friday, August 30, 2024.

She was born November 19, 1929 in Chicago, Illinois to Frank and Catherine Senese.

Mary Rose exemplified a life well-lived. She graduated from DePaul University in 1949 at age 20. She was a chemist for Armour Pharmaceuticals and Leaf Candy Company at a time when there were few women in the sciences. In 1951, she married the love of her life, George, and they were inseparable for 70 years. Family, faith and love were the center of their lives and they always treated their friends with that same love. She was famous for her manicotti and her home-made cookies. Throughout her life, she continually reinvented herself, and worked in real estate, business, and in schools. Her mind was sharp, and she was a prolific speed reader of her beloved newspapers and books. She was always the captain of her own ship, and most admired for her strong spirit and determination in any circumstance. When asked how she got through challenges in her life, she was the one to originally coin the phrase, “Just do it!” But the phrase that impacted her family most of all at every parting was her “God watch over you”, and we are sure with her help, that He will continue to do so.

Mrs. Vincolese is survived by her children, Sharon (Ken) Brinker and Diane (Mark) Gibson, five grandchildren, Garrett Brinker, Troy (Nadine Menna) Brinker, Alexandra (Dan) Cronin, Caitlyn (Chris Malessa) Gibson and Emily (Thomas Davant) Gibson, twin great-grandsons, Bryson and Scott Cronin and her daughter-in-law, Lynn (Lou) DeRose

She was preceded in death by her husband, George, her parents, a son, Kenneth Vincolese, two brothers, Frank, Jr. and Robert Senese and a sister, Dolores Mollenhauer.

Funeral mass will be held 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, September 4th at St. Patrick Downtown Church, 400 Cedar Street, St. Charles.  Burial will be at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Hillside.  Visitation will be Wednesday from 9-10:00 A.M. at Yurs Funeral Home, 405 East Main Street, St. Charles, Illinois.  Contributions may be made to a local VFW in her memory or to LivingWell Cancer Resource Center, 442 Williamsburg Avenue, Geneva, Illinois 60134.  For information contact Yurs Funeral Home, St. Charles.  630-584-0060.

"Mrs Vin, you're the best. Many great memories over the years, hanging with Ken at Bryan Jr High, and York. And raiding your refrigerator looking for left-over mostaccioli. And the many years at McGinnis Olympics, watching the kids grow up. Just a lot of fun times, and great memories. Rest In Peace."

Alex Harbuziuk from Land O Lakes, FL

"My condolences to Sharon, Diane and the rest of the family. Mrs. Vincolese was a wonderful neighbor."

Gary Vician from Naperville, IL

"Mrs. Vincolese is a loving kind and generous soul. She is like a second Mom to me. Always greeting me with a friendly smile, kind words and a treat to eat.. I love her. She, Mr. Vin, and Ken “McGinnis” are forever in my memories."

Michael P. Gleason from Downers Grove, IL

"We lost a cherishing human being in Rose Vincolese. Mrs. Vin was an energetic, vibrant person. As George (Mr. Vin) and Ken(Vin) have before her, Rose's passing has brought forth a triumvirate of wonderful people, who lived in Elmhurst, that I will always remember and integral parts of a great family"

Pauline Swenson from Geneva, IL

"I met Mary Rose at Delnor Health and Wellness many years ago. She was my mentor, inspiration and tender heart. I was always touched by her kindness and her genuine heart. We were kindred spirits. I will miss her very much. She meant the world to me. God Bless and rest easy now in God's home, reunited with her hubby, George."
