Matthew “Matt” Dickens, age 44, of St. Charles, Illinois passed away tragically, December 12, 2021.
Matt was born June 20, 1977 to Dr. and Mrs. John McRae Dickens in St. Charles, Illinois.
Matt’s vocation that he took great pride in, was being a finish carpenter. Carpentry was not only a job, but his passion. He would share pictures of his work with his family and friends. Many of the clients he worked for, were not only clients, but became his friends.
Matt could walk into a room and brighten it with his smile and personality. He loved to fish, and golf, and was an avid Chicago Sports Fan. Being an uncle to his nephews and nieces was a job he relished so much that he became their favorite “Uncle Buck” nicknamed by his Godson Thomas.
He is survived by his loving mother Christine Dickens, brother Timothy (Aoo) Dickens, Melissa (Bryce) Salter, Megan (fiancé Nick Fariello) Dickens, Mary Dickens, four nephews; Jayden, William, John, Thomas, his beloved niece Sylvia and step-niece Francesca.
He was preceded in death by his father John Dickens in 2015.
Visitation will be 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Thursday, December 16, 2021 at Yurs Funeral Home 405 E. Main St. Charles, Illinois, 60174. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 A.M. Friday, December 17, 2021, at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 2900 E. Main Street, St. Charles, Illinois 60174. Burial will be at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery, Geneva, Illinois.

"Mrs. Dickens and family…we have no words to express our shock and sadness hearing of Matt’s tragic demise. We met Matt years ago when he was hired by our son , Mike, who did the addition to our retirement home and Matt helped. He had the greatest smile and such a nice young man. I can’t imagine the devastation you and your family are going through with this horrific loss. You will be in our prayers and I’m sure God is hugging him forever. ❤️"

"Please accept my deepest sympathies for the loss of Matt. I known him since we were were in grade school. I'm shocked at the news he is gone. I don't know how he died, but I hope it was in a peaceful manner. It's been a hard year being a healthcare worker, and dealing with all the losses of so many friends. Unfortunately, I'm traveling to far away places filling assignments where healthcare worker shortages are at critical levels due to covid. I apologize that I won't be able to make this wake/funeral. I'm praying for all of you that your hearts, and minds be restored after this tragic loss."
