Maureen Flamand, 66, died on Tuesday, July 21, surrounded by her loving family. She was adored by her children, grandchildren, and their families.

The daughter of Robert and Jean Hughes, Maureen was born on April 10, 1960, in Chicago. She attended St. Charles High School and raised her three children in the community.

Maureen never knew a stranger. From neighbors to co-workers to the employees at her favorite Dunkin’ Donuts, everyone she encountered was her friend. Maureen greeted them all with a warm smile, a kind word, a positive attitude, and a genuine connection. Devoted to her Catholic faith, she embodied love and light in this world.

Survivors include daughters Katie (Andy Wood), Abbey (JJ) Backus, and son Bobby (Samantha); four grandchildren – Garrett Wood, Mary Lou Flamand, Connor Wood, and Jackson Flamand; brothers Michael (Alice Robertson) Hughes, Kevin (Cathleen) Hughes, and sister Julie Hughes; and beloved cousins, aunt, nieces, nephews, and in-laws. She was predeceased by her parents.

Funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, July 27, at St. John Neumann Church, 2900 E. Main St., St. Charles, IL. Family and friends will gather for visitation Sunday from 2-5 p.m. at Yurs Funeral Home of St. Charles, 405 E. Main St. (Corner of Route 64 and Route 25).

In the last few weeks of her life, Maureen received numerous blood products thanks to the generosity of donors. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider donating to your local blood bank, which you can find through the American Red Cross: https://www.redcross.org/give-blood
