Michael A Grocke, 52, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 22, 2025 surrounded by his family after a short battle with cancer.

Born on February 27, 1973 in Chicago, IL to Donna L (Mion) Cumpton and adopted by his father Greg Grocke in 1978. Michael grew up in Elmwood Park and Schaumburg, graduating from Schaumburg High School in 1991. Michael was proudly employed as an Exclusion Services & Business Development Manager with Men in Black Pest Control Services for the last 6 years.

Michael welcomed his miracle daughter, Lillian Grace, into the world on August 31, 2014. She was Michael’s pride & joy. In the last couple of years Michael enjoyed watching his daughter compete in her Taekwondo tournaments. A couple of weeks before his passing he was able to see Lily achieve her red belt rank. He was so incredibly proud of her and all her accomplishments.

Michael married his soul mate and best friend, Jen, on September 11th, 2021. Together they shared a passion for many things in life which included their faith, family, friends, traveling, concerts (especially 80’s rock bands), lake life, cooking, entertaining, playing games, bourbon & cigars, dance parties with his two girls, Broncos football, and White Sox baseball. Michael’s strongest quality in life was to not sweat the small stuff, earning him the nickname “Casual Mike”. Michael was loved and adored by so many people. He had a fantastic sense of humor and knew how to make the people around him laugh!

Michael is survived by his wife Jen (Hilger) Grocke, daughter Lillian Grocke, mother Donna Cumpton, father Greg (Kathy) Grocke, and mother-in-law Jean (Paul, deceased) Hilger.  His siblings: Michelle (Robert Calhoun) Grocke, Jamie Okoren, Dan (Dana) Okoren, and Andrea Okoren; sister-in-laws Kristy (John Little) Hilger, Julie Hilger, and brother-in-law John (Nancy) Hilger.  As well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles, and numerous great friends.

Michael was preceded in death by his stepfather Steve Cumpton, paternal grandmother Vera Grocke and maternal grandfather Angelo Mion.

Visitation will be held on Friday, April 25 from 3pm-8pm at Yurs Funeral Home (405 E Main Street, St Charles, IL 60174). A funeral service will take place on Saturday, April 26 at 3:30pm at Hosanna! Lutheran Church (36W925 Red Gate Rd, St Charles, IL 60175).

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
