Michael (Mike) D. Pierce, 66, of St. Charles, IL, passed away peacefully at home on March 12th, 2025.

Mike was born in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, to Kenneth and Norma Pierce. He grew up in Mequon, Wisconsin, where he graduated from Homestead High School in 1976. He went on to earn a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Wisconsin – Madison in 1980. It was there he met his college sweetheart, Laurie, and the two were married in 1982 in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin. Shortly after, they settled in Illinois, where they raised three wonderful children.

With a career spanning over 40 years in the commercial insurance industry, Mike dedicated 36 years of service to Great American Insurance Group in Schaumburg, Illinois. He was known among his colleagues for his professionalism, integrity, and the sharp, dry sense of humor that made him both respected and loved.

Outside of work, Mike was an avid sports enthusiast. A proud Wisconsin Badgers football fan, he cherished his season tickets and loved cheering on his team. He also had a lifelong loyalty to the Milwaukee Brewers, Green Bay Packers, and Milwaukee Bucks. A dedicated golfer, he enjoyed playing many challenging and scenic courses. He could also be found boating at the family’s lakehouse in Wisconsin or enjoying an old fashioned with friends & family in his basement Badger bar. Above all, he loved spending quality time with his children & grandchildren, whom he adored.

Mike is survived by his spouse Laurie (nee Popp) Pierce of St. Charles; children Matthew (Naomi) of Deerfield, Jennifer (Jeff) Solodky of Chicago, and Jeffrey (Meghan) of Milwaukee; grandchildren Ella, Micah and Mia Pierce; father-in-law William Popp of Beaver Dam, WI; sister Kary (Kevin) Cumming of Menomonee Falls, WI, brothers Douglas (Nancy) of Oconomowoc, WI and John (Jon Hoynacki) of Portland, OR; sisters-in-law Kathleen (James) Kokal of Plano, TX and Patricia (Peter) Pokrandt of Madison; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Kenneth and Norma Pierce, and his mother-in-law Marilyn Popp.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Christopher George, Laura Waldoch, and the caring staff at Northwestern Medicine Cancer Center Delnor.

Mike will be remembered for his kindness, his quick wit, and the joy he brought to all who knew him. His legacy lives on through his beloved family, friends, and the countless lives he touched.
