Myron Roland Gigl passed away gracefully, late into the night of August 23, 2022, in Fort Worth, TX.   Also known as ‘Mike’ by most of his friends and family, he was 93 and born on December 3, 1928, in Milwaukee, WI. He is survived by his 2 sons, Robert Keith Gill and Richard William Gigl, his daughter, Alison Gigl George, daughter’s-in-law, Melissa Gigl and Lora Gigl, grandchildren:  Geoffrey Gill, Tyler Gill, Erin Gigl, David Gigl, Mallory Lewis, Christopher Gigl and Lily George and great-grandchildren:  Jace Gill and Sophie Lewis.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Cooper Gigl, son, John James Gigl, and his later-in-life partner, Ruth Ramel.

Mike was born to 2nd generation German immigrant parents, Joseph and Romilda Gigl, and was the younger brother to James. Mike made the choice to serve in the US Navy as a 17-year-old man. Following his navy service, Mike attended Marquette College in Milwaukee, then was employed by Schlitz Brewing Co., and finally IBM in Oakbrook, Il.  Mike was devoted to IBM for 33 years and loved his position selling IBM office equipment in the Oakbrook territory of Ill.  In 1970, he graduated from Northwestern University’s business school in Evanston Il., and forever wore his purple and white proudly.  In his retirement, he gave back to the community as a substitute teacher to public schools in the area.  Mike was a versatile athlete; he refereed high school hockey into his mid-70s, was a golfer, a tennis player, and over-all ball player. He loved his opera, dancing, art museums, reading, cigars, ballgames and Manhattans.  He was a devout Christian, and member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Geneva, Il.

Mike was married to Patricia ‘Patt’ just shy of 50 years on this earth; he was also a proud father and grandfather.  He met Patt in Chicago, in the early 50’s; he was working for Schlitz Brewery, and Patt was a United Airline stewardess.  St. Charles, Illinois became his home of 60+ years, and he adored his friends, colleagues and community of the Chicagoland area.  He spent his final years in Ft. Worth TX, close to his eldest son, Robert and his family. He was cremated and will be buried alongside Patricia in Prairie Cemetery, just up the road from the family’s former home on Crane Road, St. Charles.

A memorial service will be held May 20, 2023, Yurs Funeral Home, St. Charles, Illinois.
