Kate (Otter) Anderson from Easley, SC

"Chris, the Otter family is thinking about you and praying for you during this time. We were so sad that hear about your mom’s passing. My family lived just around the corner from your parents on Dunstan Road for over 35 years until just about a year ago. We enjoyed talking with your mom and spending time with her. My mom was so happy she was able to see your mom the last time Mom was in town. Your mom was an incredible woman, neighbor, friend, and teacher. She was loved by many and touched the lives of hundreds, if not thousands, of people. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who loved and admired her."

Ellen Kamps from Geneva, IL

"Chris & family, thinking about you every day since I heard about the passing of your mom. I grew up on Meadows, just down the street from you, and Mrs. Powers was one of my favorite people of all time. She played a crucial role in developing my interpersonal skills as a kid and was an amazing role model for so many. As an entrepreneur, I like to credit Mrs. Powers as my first customer ever! Every year she would buy Girl Scout cookies from me, even though she was probably buying them from everyone in her classroom too. I would also write a newsletter on a type writer about neighborhood happenings (from a 7 year old perspective) and she would give me a dollar every time I dropped off the new edition. She always encouraged me to keep writing and to follow my passion. She was such a gem that made time for everyone, no matter how big or small.Much love to you during this difficult transition, I'm so sorry for your loss."

Cathy Konecky Peterson from Omaha, NE

Debbie Annett from Geneva, IL

"I am so sorry to hear about Mrs. Powers passing. I remember when my daughter was about to go into 3rd grade and hoping that she would get Mrs. Powers, and the she did! I was thrilled because I had heard so many good things about her and I had seen her in action prior and could see what a great teacher she was. I helped in her classroom all that year and always enjoyed being in her room. She had such a wonderful rapport with the kids and was such a pleasure to be around. At the end of the year she hosted a lovely luncheon for all her mom helpers. I couldn't believe how kind and appreciative she was. Later as I got into teaching myself, I got back into touch with her for some advice in different areas, and she was always happy to take the time to chat/help. My sincerest condolences to all her family. She was a wonderful person, and I am thankful for all she gave to all of us."
