Patricia (Pat, Patty) Emily Vicha, 85, died Saturday, July 18th with the grace and dignity she lived her life with in St. Charles, Il.
The youngest daughter of George and Emily Taubensee, Pat was born on March 17, 1941 in Bay Shore, New York where she grew up with her older sister Mary Ann whom she looked up to and adored. After graduating High School and an extended trip to Europe with her sister, she moved out to Oceanside, California where she met and married her husband of 57 years John Vicha.
After having their first child they then moved to Fargo, North Dakota which lasted one winter before Pat strongly encouraged John it was time to move again…this time to Wheaton, Illinois where they had two more children and raised their family.
Pat was the consummate mother and wife providing unconditional love and support for her family. She also demonstrated her internal strength and resolve conquering breast cancer in 1983 without missing a beat at home. As her children got older ,she went back to the workforce in various roles for Wheaton School District #200 and volunteered at St. Paul Lutheran Church, PADS, Breast Cancer Awareness, and numerous other worthy charities.
Nothing made Pat happier though than spending time with and supporting her family. A first rate cook many have tried and failed to match her ability to put together a holiday event with little help. Everyone of her children and grand-children would list her as their number one fan. Her smile and laugh will be missed by all as well as the occasional roll of her eyes!
Survivors include Son, Dean (Whitney) Vicha of Campton Hills, IL; Son Kurt (Rhodea) Vicha (Pembroke Pines, FL); and Daughter Jennifer (Brian) Weigand (North Aurora, IL). And 5 Grandchildren – Riley Vicha, Brendan Vicha, LTJG Peyton Weigand (2nd LT Madison), Morgan Vicha, and Sean Weigand.
Patrica was preceded in death by her father George Taubensee, mother Emily, and sister, Mary Ann Johnson.
Visitation and a Memorial Service will be held Saturday, August 22, 2026 at Yurs Funeral Home of St. Charles, 405 East Main Street, from 1 PM to 3 PM. There will be a reception to follow at Old Towne Pub, 40W290 LaFox Rd., Campton Hills, IL from 3:30 PM to 7:30 PM.
