We are sad to announce the passing of Patrick Francis Deasey, age 55, of St. Charles, Illinois. Pat passed away suddenly at Delnor Hospital in Geneva on Saturday, April 22, 2023.

Pat was born April 10, 1968, in Chicago, Illinois to James and Frances Deasey and grew up in Calumet City, IL, graduating from Thornwood HS in 1986.  He attended Northwestern University, on an Evans Scholarship, a 4-year full tuition award. Pat majored in Radio, Television and Film.  He had a stint in Hollywood.  Christian Slater stole his cigarettes.  Mel Gibson tried to stare him down.  Pat lost the staring contest, but he managed to win Rachel’s heart and get her to move out there with him.

Pat had many creative endeavors and hobbies. He was a filmmaker, writer, photographer, and most recently, part-owner of a record store.  Pat was an accomplished stay-at-home dad to his 4 children, who were the light of his life. His floor hockey goalie skills were the stuff of “legendary legends.” He had many loves: the Cubs, the Blackhawks, records, model trains, baseball cards, showing old movies on a projector, taking pictures, collecting things, and most of all his family and friends.

Pat really found his niche later in life in his love of music, records, and ephemera through his work at Record Wonderland.  He was fortunate to work with his best friend Steven Young.  His customer wrangling skills were top notch and occasionally acerbic.

Pat is survived by his wife, Rachel Olech, his children, Deirdre (Jesse Lindsay), Zephraim, Corbin, and Miles, his father, James, a sister, Liane (Robert) O’Brien. Many aunts, uncles, cousins, in-laws, nieces, nephews, and a wide group of friends will miss him.

He was preceded by in death by his mother, Frances (nee Cosentino) Deasey, Uncle Thomas Deasey, and his father-in-law Ronald John Olech.

Funeral service will be held 11:00 A.M., Monday, May 1st at Yurs Funeral Home, 405 East Main Street, (corner of Rt. 64 and Rt 25), St. Charles, Illinois. Visitation will be on Sunday, April 30th from 2-6:00 P.M.

In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made in Pat’s honor to the Evans Scholars Foundation: https://wgaesf.org/

Love you Pat.  Your stories will be missed.

Jerome Garcia from San Francisco, CA

"When the last rose of summer pricks my finger And the hot sun chills me to the bone When I can't hear the song for the singer And I can't tell my pillow from a stone I will walk alone by the black muddy river And sing me a song of my own I will walk alone by the black muddy river And sing me a song of my own When the last bolt of sunshine hits the mountain And the stars start to splatter in the sky When the moon splits the southwest horizon With the scream of an eagle on the fly I will walk alone by the black muddy river And listen to the ripples as they moan I will walk alone by the black muddy river And sing me a song of my own Black muddy river, roll on forever I don't care how deep or wide if you've got another side Roll muddy river, roll muddy river Black muddy river, roll Black muddy river, roll on forever I don't care how deep or wide if you've got another side Roll muddy river, roll muddy river Black muddy river, roll When it seems like the night will last forever And there's nothing left to do but count the years When the strings of my heart start to sever And stones fall from my eyes instead of tears I will walk alone by the black muddy river And dream me a dream of my own I will walk alone by the black muddy river And sing me a song of my own And sing me a song of my own"

"Deasey Family, I grew up with Pat from Caroline Sibley grade school, Dirksen middle school, and into Thornwood HS. Pat was always one of the smartest and most athletic guys growing up. One unique thing back in our time about Pat is he was a lefty. I remember his toughness in running track and cross country and I also remember how much of a super good student Pat was and we often chased his grades in class as he was one of the lead students. His passing hurts as another one of our Cal City crew is gone too young.Rest in Peace Pat your Cal City buds will always remember you.Steve Alessia Sibley 80 Dirksen 82 Thornwood 86"
