Peggy M. Kirby, 79, passed away at The Sheridan at Park Ridge assisted living facility on Friday, February 21, 2025.  She was born on October 22, 1945, in Lepanto, Arkansas, but spent most of her life in the Elgin / Fox Valley, IL, area.  In addition to raising two sons, Peggy had a successful career at the Courier News, working her way up from an entry level position to become the general manager and vice president of three daily newspapers, finally named publisher of The Courier.  Peggy also loved spending time in Boyne City, MI.  After retiring, she moved to Boyne and had her home renovated so family and friends could come to visit and enjoy all the things she loved about the area.

She is survived by her sister, Anne (Ben) Culos of Cape Coral Florida; her sons James (Monica) Hermann of Belvidere, IL, and Kurt (Sue) Hermann of Park Ridge, IL; her grandchildren Robert (Meghan), Brandon, Amber and Cody; and five great grandchildren.  Peggy was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin Kirby, and brother, Robert L. Roach.

Visitation will be held at Yurs Funeral Home (in St. Charles) on Wednesday, 2/26, between 4:00 and 8:00 pm.  The funeral service will also be at Yurs on Thursday, 2/27, at 10:00 am, followed by a procession to Little Woods Cemetery (South Elgin) and a luncheon at Mio Modo (in St. Charles).
