In Loving Memory of Piotr J. Lakomy

Piotr J. Lakomy, a cherished father, adventurer, and radiant soul, passed away on July 6, 2023, at the age of 52. He was born on February 16, 1971, and his spirit continues to live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

Piotr’s adventurous spirit led him to explore the world, particularly his passion for travel and nature. He found solace and inspiration in visiting national parks, breathtaking canyons, and tropical destinations. The beauty of these places spoke to his soul, and he treasured the memories created during his adventures.

Piotr’s deep love for his children, Mikolaj and Maja, and his stepdaughter, Inga, was a bond that will never be broken. Despite the challenges of life, he shared special moments with each of them, creating lasting connections. Mikolaj remembers their bike rides and heartfelt conversations about life, which will forever remind him of his father’s wisdom and love. Maja cherishes the way her father’s sense of humor brightened her life and created unforgettable bond and memories that will be treasured forever. Inga deeply appreciates the connection they shared over their mutual passion for photography and Piotr’s caring nature as he guided and taught her, leaving a lasting mark on her heart. He will be deeply missed by his children.

Piotr’s former wife and mother of his children, Ewa, played an important role in his life for over 20 years, and their journey together was filled with both triumphs and challenges. Despite their separation, her grief at his passing serves as a testament to the deep connection they shared. Their shared experiences, laughter, and love remain a cherished part of Piotr’s story.

Piotr’s parents Marian and Halina and stepmother Stefania shaped the person he became. His journey was marked by determination, resilience, and bravery, and finding strength in overcoming obstacles as he forged his own path and embraced the adventures that awaited him. 

Piotr’s presence and friendship will be deeply missed by his many friends, whose lives were brightened by his humor, generosity, and genuine nature. His ability to bring laughter and joy to any gathering created lasting memories and forged lifelong connections.

A wake to celebrate Piotr’s life and allow friends and family to pay their respects will be held between 4 PM and 8 PM on Friday, July 21st, 2023 at Yurs Funeral Home, St. Charles. A church mass in honor of Piotr will be held at 10 AM on Saturday, July 22nd at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, Carol Stream. 

Piotr’s legacy as an adventurous soul, talented photographer, and father who shared memorable moments with his children will forever be cherished. May his spirit find eternal peace, and may his memory serve as a symbol of bravery, inspiration, and love to all who were fortunate to have known him.
