Richard Henry Schaefer, born December 21, 1966, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Algonquin, IL on October 19, 2017 at the age of 50.
Rick is survived by his parents, Wilfried and Dieta Schaefer of Illinois, his siblings, Monica (Jeff) Krathovil of West Chicago, IL and Edwin (Laurie) Schaefer of Maple Park, IL along with loving nephews, nieces and many, many friends.
Rick worked as a machinist for many years at the Ellis Corporation in Itasca, IL. Then the Gambler Corporation hired him as a machinist on NC equipment and sent him to Germany for training. He worked many years with them and then went with Heidt’s Hot Rod Shop in Wauconda and Lake Zurich, IL.
Rick will be remembered for being a loving son (always there when needed), brother, uncle and friend. He chose to live his life enjoying off-road biking; motorcycle riding and working on his prized Mustang car.
He is a man to be missed.
There is no need to send anything other than your prayers and love for Rick; but, if you desire, in lieu of flowers, and because anyone who knew Rick knows how much he loved dogs, contributions may be made in his memory to Pet Smart Charities, PO Box 96426, Washington DC 20090 (www.petsmartcharities.org).
Memorial visitation on Saturday, October 28th from 1PM-3PM at Yurs Funeral Home, 405 E. Main St., St. Charles, IL 60174 (630) 584-0060. Memorial services to follow at 3PM

"I was so sad to hear about Ricky and still cannot believe he is gone! He was my friend and partner in crime in our teens. I only saw him a couple times a year as adults but I will miss his smile, laugh and sense of humor. Love you Rick!!"
