Robert Milton Bowling passed away on June 27th, 2021. His life of 84 years left behind a legacy of love, kindness and faith to all those that knew him.
Robert was born in Flint, Michigan, on May 17th, 1937, as the youngest of 3 children of Horace and Dessie Bowling. He came to know Jesus through Vacation Bible School as a kid and committed his life to serving God. He met the love of his life, Jo Ann Gould, on a blind date and on March 7th, 1959, they were wed in Flint. Their union lasted a strong 40 years until Jody’s passing in November of 1999.
A proud graduate of General Motors Institute, Robert went on to become an Electrician at AC Delco Systems West, and retired in 1995 after 38 years. Cars were an incredible passion in his life, and he took great care in his work and collection. As well as cars, he held a lifelong enthusiasm for music; Robert had a particular love for the work of Patti Page, going on to found “The Patti Page Appreciation Society”. He boasted an impressive record collection integral for the preservation of her work that was generously loaned, shared, and donated to friends and fellow collectors across many years.
Robert was a proud father of two. After his children had moved out and formed families of their own, Robert went on to continue ensuring that the people around him were thriving and cared for. He was a beloved neighbor, board member of the Summerwind Subdivision Committee and caretaker of two adopted cats Murphy, and Smokey, whom he loved very much. As a grandfather, he leaves many memories of 9 am ice cream runs and warm, homemade blueberry pancakes. His ability to make those around him not just feel appreciated, but spoiled, has touched many.
Robert is preceded in death by his wife, Jo-Ann Bowling; his parents, Horace and Dessie Bowling; his siblings, Betty Leigh and Donald Bowling. Robert is survived by his two children, Michael Bowling and partner Jimmy Blackston; and Angela Cameron and spouse David Cameron. His two grandchildren, Lea Cameron and partner Michael Holmberg and grandson, Luca Cameron. He also leaves behind beloved extended family members as well.
If you would like to pay respects to him or his family, visitation will be held at Yurs Funeral Home in St Charles at 405 E Main St, IL on Friday, July 2 from 4:00-7:00, followed by a memorial service at 7:00.

"Angela, Michael, Family Members: Our prayers are with you during this difficult time. Bob and I became friends about forty years ago, and we always enjoyed our many conversations. He was exceedingly kind and generous and truly a man who knew Christ as Savior. We spoke just recently, and as usual, Bob was upbeat. He had great love for his family and friends."
