Obituaries

Robert C. Dawson age 89 of St. Charles passed away December 22, 2017 surrounded by his loving family. He was born to Clyde and Elgie Dawson in Herndon, KY. He graduated from South Christian County H.S. in Hopkinsville, KY. He was raised on the family farm, where helped his father until he entered the Service. He proudly fought for his country in the US Army 25th Infantry Division during the Korean War. He met his wife Collette at the Hotel Baker where she was the front desk manager, and they married in 1961. They made their home in St. Charles, raising their two children. Though his career with Babson Brothers Co., a Dairy Farm Equipment Manufacturer, Robert traveled the globe. He was selected to represent U.S. Agriculture as trade opened with China and Russia in the 1970’s. He was bestowed the honor of Kentucky Colonel for note worthy accomplishments and outstanding service to the State and Nation.
He is survived by his daughter Suzanne (Michael) Roche of Hartland, WI, son Michael (Ana Maria) Dawson of St. Charles, IL, grandchildren; Cassidy Grace Roche, and Robert Michael Dawson.
Robert was preceded in death by his wife Collette nee Kingsbury, in 2004, and sister, Mary Grace Burden.
Visitation will be 4-8:00 P.M. Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at Yurs Funeral Home 405 E. Main Street, St. Charles, IL 60174. Funeral Services will be 10:30 A.M. Thursday December 28, 2017 at Yurs Funeral Home. Burial will be at Union Cemetery, St. Charles, IL.
