It is with great sadness that the family of Robert Thomas Testo announces his passing on Thursday, March 17th, 2022 at the age of 62 years old.  He was greatly loved by his wife, children, extended family and friends.

Born April 20, 1959, in Chicago, Illinois, to Alfred and Lucille (Menotti) Testo.  Rob grew up in Des Plaines, Illinois and graduated high school from Maine West.  After high school, he began his career at Allstate and later moved into sales roles in the Electronic Components industry.  He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Business from Roosevelt University.  On August 14, 1992, he married his beloved wife Laura (Burns) Testo.

Rob and Laura welcomed their first son, Sam, into the world in 1997 and later their second son, Ben, in 2001.  Rob is survived by his sons, Sam and Ben Testo; his brother Ralph (Donna) Testo; his niece Dawn (John) Hichew; his nephew Todd (Teri) Testo. Uncle Rob will forever hold a special place in the hearts of his great nieces and nephews:  Alyssa (Brandon) Conkle, Steven, Amanda, Jack, Kelly, and Mia and Laura’s nieces and nephews; Steve, Teresa, Gary, Erika, Bear, Larry-Wayne, Jeremy, Martine, Cassidy, Nacine, Chaz, Cha and Libby.  He also touched the lives of his mother-in-law Carol Burns and his sister-in-laws Cindy (David) Brady, Donna (James) Roland and Jennifer Henderson and his great-great nephew Lukas Conkle.

Rob’s childhood passion was going to the Arlington Racetrack and watching the horses run with his Father.  He continued that passion each year and almost every weekend until it closed this past year.  He was a diehard Cubs and Blackhawks fan but his love in life was family.  He adored his wife, two boys and his extended family and was the most unselfish, generous, caring and loving man anyone could wish for.

Rob was preceded in death by his parents Al and Lucille Testo and his Father-in-Law Don Burns.

Family and friends will gather for visitation from 4:00-8:00PM on Monday March 21st at Yurs Funeral Home of St. Charles, 405 East Main Street (Corner of Rt. 64 and Rt. 25).  Funeral service will follow on Tuesday, March 22nd at 10:30AM at Yurs Funeral Home of St. Charles.

Condolences

Scott Mortensen from St. Charles, IL

"Testo family, my heart absolutely aches for you. Condolences to all of you from the deepest part of my heart.I met Rob through Wasco baseball, but got to know him better as he jogged by our house almost every single day. He always had time to say "hi" and make small talk with me. Rob made our neighborhood a better place. But the biggest impact Rob had on our family was undoubtedly with our son Stratton. I think the same can be said by many parents in Fox Mill. Rob was the Mayor of the Sand Lot Gang. He did everything for our sons as if they were Sam or Ben. Everything. What he taught these boys with respect to becoming genuine caring men is his legacy. Thank YOU.Rob with immeasurable thanks for all you did to make others' lives better, RIP."

Patti Mortensen from Saint Charles, IL

"We love you and will miss you. Rob was a second father to Stratton. We will cherish the memories he made with the boys and our families and forever be grateful for the way he touched our lives. May he rest in eternal peace."

Vincent Marnell from Saint Charles , IL

"Mr Testo was nothing other than a role model to everyone he touched. The impact that he, and the rest of their family have on anyone they meet is truly nothing other then unforgettable. Mr Testo, attended every game wether basketball, baseball, or football to cheer on not only his sons, but all there friends. Everyone that walked into his house immediately felt like they were family, and he made it his full time job to make sure all Sams and Bens friends were always happy. Mr Testo took me to my first ever cubs game, and although I’m a white Sox fan he wanted to make it certain what I was missing in Wrigley Ville. Mr Testo will always be one of the most important figures I have ever had in my life, and his legacy will always be continued in his family, and his friends. I love you Mr Testo, and will never forget everything you have done for me. You taught me how to give, and to never put myself first. Enjoy Heaven as we know God takes his best first. My goal when I am older is to give my kids, and their friends the same childhood you, and Mrs. Testo gave us. One day we will building ice rinks, and skating together in heaven, and when we do I’ll be sure to take it easy on you. Nothing but the best memories, forever and always. RIP Mr. Testo."

Nacine from St Clair Shores , MI

My deepest sympathies to Laura, Sam and Ben for your loss.I will always cherish my memories of Rob at the baseball fields, Blackhawks games and Arlington Park outings. John Nemeth from Gurnee, IL

"I met Rob at Allstate circa 1984. My first vivid memories of him were from playing alongside him on a company league softball team and against him in a company run racquetball league. I was always so impressed with his topnotch attitude, friendliness, and enthusiasm. Every interaction I ever had with Rob was a positive one. Rob organized a trip up to Toronto Canada for the 1988 Arlington Million and several Allstate co-workers all joined together for the memorable weekend. Rob was as synonymous with Arlington, the Blackhawks, and the Chicago Cubs, as the 4th of July is with fireworks and family are. My daughter first met Rob at Arlington back in the 1980's when she was a 3 year old. She's 35 now and her two year old daughter just got to meet Rob this past summer at Arlington. Rob's sense of humor was classic. I'd sent him a video clip of my two year old granddaughter Ellie running around the playground, and he responded that "she ran faster than some of the horses he bet on". It's uplifting interactions with Rob that will be missed. He was always so polite and such a class act. He was so respectful of his parents, and loved and was proud of Laura, Sam, and Ben. What a role model he is for the rest of us. May he rest in peace. He will, most definitely, be missed."

Jeff Prelletz from Wheeling, IL

"Laura, I'm not sure you remember me as it was back in the day when all us guys played 16" softball together as the Gamblers for many, many years. Rob was my fellow outfielder through countless games and tournaments. Back then, we lived and breathed 16" softball sometimes traveling to Wisconsin for some of the tournaments. Along the way, we found success winning some leagues and tournaments. Rob and I were both decent ballplayers, but together we were great. Not much made it past us! As a teammate, Rob was simply the best. He was always supportive and positive even when we all knew game was over. I truly enjoyed playing alongside Rob for all those years. To you and your sons, my heartfelt prayers that all these memories of Rob somehow bring a tiny bit of comfort."

Janet Tedder Dodson from Festus, MO

"I pray for comfort and peace for Laura, Sam, Ben, Family and Friends."

Graham McNeill from Kentwood, MI

"I know Rob through work, he was always a tremendous help and was able to provide humor even when things were busy for the both of us. Always nice, and always made me feel like I had a friend in Illinois whenever we talked."

Janet Vanderpoel from Lake Zurich, IL

"My deepest condolences to Robs family. We grew up as next door neighbors. He, and his family were kind, considerate, and generous. Rob used to drive us all to Maine West, I got to tag along as the little sister of Kris (Kosar) Pruter. Thanks, Rob. Made me feel special. RIP Janet Vanderpoel"

Sean Helsel & Wasco Baseball from Wasco, IL

"I knew Rob through Wasco Baseball; an organization he served for over 10 years as a board member and coach. I remember Rob as being gracious with others, providing a voice of reason, and always being loyal to our mission at Wasco Baseball. We are all ‘standing on the shoulders’ of those who came before us and Rob Testo resembles this for Wasco Baseball."
