Ronald Stewart Jaynes, 79, passed away on May 16, 2026.  He was born in Chicago, IL on December 5, 1946.  Ron was in 3rd grade when the family moved to an old farm on Sleepy Hollow Road in Dundee, IL. The stories Ron told about being raised there included fond memories of rebuilding the buildings and fixing the property with his father.

His parents Carl and Alberta (Park) settled in the United States after WWII from Toronto, Canada.  Ron was the oldest child followed by Robert, Dan and Carol.  Ron was active in Dundee High School.  He participated in Student Council (was President), went down state with his science project and played football among other activities. Ron was proud of his Mechanical Engineering degree from Bradley University.  Many of his Theta Chi Fraternity brothers were his friends to his last day.

Ron’s creative gift of design and fabrication of custom machinery helped with the growth and sale of manufacturing companies in the Dundee/Elgin area. Ron has been retired for almost 20 years, yet he continued to use his life’s gifts to help others.

Ron and Jody (Anderson) were married in 1970 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in St. Charles.  Last fall they celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary and Ron enjoyed saying, “it seems longer”.  He was blessed with three sons.  Cameron (Nihan) of Madrid, Spain, Philip of St. Charles and Gordon (Corin) of Charleston, South Carolina and five grandchildren Archie, Joseph, Eli, Eleanor and Warren.

Ron wasn’t one to attend church, but his faith was important to him. He wanted his children to have a core knowledge of Jesus and supported Jody with this important duty.  As a youth, Ron learned from and enjoyed his experiences participating in Boy Scouts.  He actively was involved with his sons in Scouting. He contributed in many ways to the Three Fire Council of Scouting America where he was awarded their highest honor, The Silver Beaver.  Many of Ron’s dearest friends were scouters. He was so proud that his three sons attained the rank of Eagle Scout.

Before and during Ron’s retirement, he was an active volunteer with a service group, H.A.V.E. This organization served people in need in the Fox Valley by performing free of charge maintenance and upkeep on their homes.  Again, these men were his friends.  Ron was always creating, designing and building something useful. His equipment in his workshop allowed him to demonstrate his many talents.

A memorial visitation will take place Friday June 19, 2026 from 4:00-8:00 P.M. at Yurs Funeral Home (405 East Main Street, Saint Charles, IL). The memorial service will be the following day on June 20, 2026 at 11:00 A.M. at Hosanna Lutheran Church (36W925 Red Gate Road, St. Charles, IL).

To honor Ron, donations can be made to Scouts Of America, Three Fires Council 415 North 2nd Street St. Charles, IL 60174. These funds will be used for the Facilities and Maintenance at Camp Big Timber in Elgin where Ron spent many decades volunteering to create a better camp for the youth. The other option is the Tri-City Salvation Army 1710 South 7th Ave St. Charles, IL,60174 to the Merle Marie Anderson Memorial fund in memo (MMAM). These funds will be used for youth betterment.
