"It is a rare occasion that someone can talk to and meet someone who is 97 years old. I have been honored to know a few. I met Rosella a number of years ago at Saint Patrick's Church. A truly amazing woman. I think she was ell into her 80's when I met her and was amazed at her energy and her abilities. She used to talk about her parents and her siblings. She was one of the first people to go to St. Patrick's School after the money was donated by the Rempe family. ( I was even honored to work for the Rempe grandson for a number of years). But she actually graduated while the Parish was being pastored by Father Carse. It was unfortunate that her Father passed away when she was just about to receive First Communion. But even with what I am sure were quite difficult times her sisters brothers and mother persevered through the Depression and into World War II. She went to High School at Mount St. Mary in St. Charles Rosella one time was hit by a car and struggled to stay with her family. She survived that ordeal and eventually ended up going to work. She was one of the "Pioneers" from the Telephone and Telegraph companies. Worked for many years for the company including well after she retired getting together with others from that era for lunches and dinner. The stories that they knew of must have been amazing as wellShe began life as the youngest daughter of John and Margaret Miller out in Wasco on a farm. Many a story she told of these days with her 2 brothers and 5 sisters. A wonderful life she had.. always making time and effort for the family. She mentioned all of them and her own son and grand kids. > It was a pleasure knowing her and helping her throughout the years.St Patrick and St Charles will miss her !"

"“Aunt Rosie” was a class act; a role model for all her nieces and nephews to follow. My mother, Elizabeth, was the oldest of the Miller children . . . Rose was the youngest. My sister, Mary, and I were often left at Grandma Miller’s house on 13th ST in St. Charles while my parents grocery shopped and ran errands on Saturday afternoons. We would also stop many times at Grandma’s after church on Sundays. Aunt Rosie became like a big sister to us.Rosie had an adventurous side also! On one of her visit with us, she being in her 70’s, decided she would hike Camelback Mountain with me, a seasoned hiker/mountain climber! She made it over half way up which is amazing since that mountain is a very hard climb.Living in Arizona, we kept in touch by phone. Rosie loved to talk on the phone. She was always so cheerful and full of updates about family and events that we would have missed living out here . . . miles away. I was fortunate to have talked to her a few weeks ago.Rest in peace Angel Rosie!"

"I am the daughter of Clara Miller (Al Hebeisen) Clara was Aunt Rosie's sister. They lived during her retirement very close to Aunt Rosie. I have many fond memories of her stories. She had such an outgoing personality. She loved her garden and her birds so much. She loved her garage sales in retirement and I was lucky to have gone with her on many trips and out to lunch during visits home. She is the last surviving member of the Miller family. We will miss her so much."

Maureen Hughes-Phillips from Geneva , IL

"Sue, Rosie's niece and I have been friends since we met at St Pat's in third grade. While I'm not sure I ever met her. I've heard about Rosie and Clara for years. Sue has not lived in the area for many years. But every time she visited St Charles she made time to visit her Aunt Rosie. Ron and Carol, Sue's brother and sister, stayed in the area and regularly checked in on Rosie. Together, the three of them made sure that Rosie was ok and taken care of, especially after Rosie's sisters died. Rosie could not have had three more loving and caring nieces and nephew. Rosie was family and they cared for her beautifully and selflessly. You three cared for Rosie not because you had to, but because you loved her. You each blessed her last years."
