Rudolph Henry (“Rudy”) Dallesasse died peacefully on March 30, 2024,
in Peoria, Illinois, surrounded by his family.
He was born March 31, 1925, in Kingsford, Michigan, and lived most of
his life in St. Charles, Illinois. For the past three years he and his wife
resided at the Arc of Chillicothe, Illinois (formerly Heritage Health).
His family is grateful to the staff of the Arc for the care he received.
After graduating from St. Charles High School in 1943 he attended
Cornell College as part of U.S. Navy training and served in WWII. He
married Valora (“Val”) Gedwell on September 2, 1945. Val was his high
school sweetheart and they have been married for seventy-eight years.
Rudy was in the retail food business for over 40 years and was owner of
the Dairy Queen in St. Charles. He was a member of the Loyal Order of
Moose Chapter 1368 St. Charles, the American Legion Post 342 of St.
Charles, and a former member of the St. Charles Rotary Club. He was a
life-long member of St. Patrick Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife Valora, two daughters: Joann Dunlap of
Chillicothe, IL, Susan (Charles) Davis of Macomb, IL, and one son John
(Kathy) Dallesasse of Champaign, IL, grandchildren Jessica Dunlap,
Julie (Kent) Witte, Nathan (Sarah) Dallesasse, Amanda Dallesasse
Morrison, Andy (Jessica) Scholz, Alyssa Kaprelian, Marina (Chris)
Volkman, Michael Kaprelian, Lauren Dallesasse, Brian Dallesasse, Eric
Dallesasse, and great-grandchildren Christian, Hudson, Hannah,
William, and Logan.
He was preceded in death by a daughter Kathleen (William) Kaprelian,
son Stephen (Susan) Dallesasse, his father Anton Dallesasse, his mother
Mary Verachtert, stepmother Lena Dallesasse, sister Dorothy (Ray)
Johnson, step-sister Lorraine (Don) Taylor, step-brother Wolford (Rose)
Esterlund, brother Leroy (Pat) Dallesasse, and brother James (Donna)
Dallesasse.
Visitation will be 9:30 A.M. to 10:30 A.M. Wednesday April 3, 2024, at
St. Patrick Crane Road Catholic Church, 6N491 Crane Road, St.
Charles, Illinois 60175. Funeral Mass will be celebrated following the
visitation at 10:30 A.M. at St. Patrick Crane Road Catholic Church
Msgr. Daniel Deutsch Celebrant. Burial will be at Union Cemetery, St.
Charles, Illinois. Contributions in Rudy’s memory may be made to St.
