Obituary Information for Shirley J. Stade

Shirley J. Stade, aged 76, passed away early Tuesday morning, June 28, 2022.

Shirley was born in Chicago, Illinois on January 25, 1946 to the late Hildegard A. (Fetzer) Phelps. Shirley grew up in Chicago and Chicago suburbs with her parents, Hildegard and Stephen Phelps, and siblings Thomas, Barbara, William, Steven, and James.

Shirley graduated from Glenbard East High School in 1964. She raised her children in Lombard as well. Shirley received her nursing degree at the College of DuPage. She worked as an industrial nurse for many years. She later worked as a Hospice Nurse. Shirley later became the Vice President at Nationwide Gage Calibration, Inc., where she worked alongside her loving husband, Ronald (Ron) Stade.

Shirley met Ron in 2003 and they have been happily married since September 4, 2004. Shirley loved working with Ron. They both loved traveling together. They took several vacations to Maui, Hawaii. Shirley loved going whale watching out there!

Shirley and Ron have been cat owners for several years. Shirley loved her cats so much! PeeWee and Nippy greatly miss their “momma”.

Shirley and Ron built their home in a Del Webb community in Elgin, to be close to their grandchildren. She loved being a grandma and spoiling her grandkids! Shirley was so proud of all four of her grandchildren and their accomplishments: Andrew (26 – police officer), Danielle (22 – college graduate working on her 2nd degree), Rebecca (15 – dancer, pageant participant, and model), and Dustin (13 – soccer player).

Shirley is survived by her loving husband Ronald Stade, her children Pamela (Jones) Yurgil and Thomas Jones; her step-children Kym (Brett) Banner and Brian Stade; her grandchildren Andrew Yurgil, Danielle Yurgil, Rebecca Banner, and Dustin Banner; her sister Barbara Bedessie; and her brothers Steven Phelps and James Phelps. Shirley leaves behind many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins. Although not blood related, Shirley leaves behind so many amazing friends that are more like family!

She was preceded in death by her firstborn child, Michael Jones (1965-2014), her brother Thomas, and her parents, Hildegard and Stephen..

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Shirley’s memory to the American Cancer Society (#1-800-227-2345) or the charity of your choice.
