It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Steven Edward Rogus, who passed away unexpectedly on June 9, 2025, at the age of 47. Steve was the beloved son of Deanna and the late Edward Rogus, born on January 25, 1978, in Elmhurst, Illinois.

We are broken-hearted. When Steve left this Earth, a shining bright light went out. Steve was a friend who many said was happy-go-lucky, and someone who would help anyone. One of his dear friends said, “the world is a darker place without Steve in it.” His pride and joy was being a devoted dad to his daughter, Nina. He wanted nothing but the best for her. He cared for his family and friends in a way that was indisputable. He also loved his furry companion, “Bijou,” who was, as Steve put it, “my shadow.” There are no words to express how much Steve will be missed by all those that loved him.

Steve is survived by his beautiful daughter, Nina; his favorite brother, Michael (Allison), fond uncle to Kyla and Ava “Stevie;”  loving nephew of “Auntie” Arlene (late Angelo); and the charismatic cousin of Christopher.

A Celebration of Life for Steve will be held August 9th, 2025 starting at 12:30 P.M. at Sugar Grove American Legion (65 1st St. Sugar Grove, IL). Food and beverages will be served.

Otto Mack from Bolingbrook, IL

"Having to talk about Steve in the past tense feels unfair, but the universe has little regard for that sort of thing. Whether it makes sense or doesn’t, whether it feels real or doesn’t, whether I accept it as truth… none of those things matter. It’s the reality I live in, whether I want to or not. So, what now? Time to remember him, to celebrate him, to memorialize him. An impossible task. A mere man he was not. Legendary for his ability to transform any situation into a party. Legendary for his penchant to keep anyone on their toes. Legendary in lengths he would go to for the people he loved. Legendary for his capacity to work, at hard work, until the hard work was done. No one is a god, but some people elevate themselves above mere mortals and truly become legends. My thoughts and love go out to everyone feeling his loss, most especially his dearest love Nina and his mother Dee."
