Sudhir I Shroff passed away peacefully at home on May 25, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Bombay, India, in 1939, Sudhir was raised in a family rooted in engineering and manufacturing. His father owned a local motive parts manufacturing company, inspiring in him an early appreciation for hard work, innovation, and craftsmanship.

At the age of 20, Sudhir journeyed to America to pursue his dream of studying Mechanical Engineering. He graduated from Milwaukee School of Engineering in 1963, beginning a lifelong career shaped by dedication, intellect, and perseverance.

While living in Milwaukee, Sudhir met the love of his life, Barbara, at a YMCA dance class. Their chance meeting blossomed into a devoted marriage in 1965 and a lifetime of partnership, love, and family.

In 1971, Sudhir joined Great Lakes Dredge & Dock Company in Chicago, Illinois, where he built a respected professional career and lasting friendships.

Throughout his distinguished career, Sudhir helped design and support marine dredges that operated around the world. He played a vital role in the design, fabrication, installation, and problem-solving efforts for many of the dredges built by Great Lakes. Known for his ingenuity and calm determination, Sudhir traveled extensively to support projects and resolve complex engineering challenges, earning the respect and friendship of colleagues across the globe.

Sudhir deeply loved his work and took great pride in a career that spanned five decades before his retirement after 50 years of dedicated service. Beyond his professional accomplishments, he embraced life with curiosity, warmth, and enthusiasm. He enjoyed managing investments, exploring new places, and traveling the world—especially alongside his beloved wife, Barbara. Together they shared unforgettable adventures, including cherished trips to Africa and Hawaii, as well as many family cruises filled with laughter and treasured memories.

Family was always at the center of Sudhir’s life. He and Barbara spent many happy holidays in Florida with their loving children, Stephen and Stacy, and daughter-in-law, Patricia, creating traditions and moments that will be remembered for generations.

Sudhir I Shroff is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife, Barbara; his son, Stephen, and daughter-in-law, Patricia; his daughter, Stacy, and her partner, Haris; his brother, Paresh; and sister-in-law, Kathy. He also leaves behind many cherished members of the Shroff family, beloved nieces and nephews, extended family, and dear friends who will forever treasure his kindness, wisdom, and generous spirit.

We warmly welcome and encourage you to share your memories and condolences, and we will gratefully read each and every message.
