Susan J. Hill, 63, of Saint Charles, Illinois passed away peacefully on January 1st, 2022, after battling metastatic breast cancer for over nine years.

Her family and faith motivated her to make the most of her life despite her diagnosis.

Married to Steven C. Hill for over 43 years, Sue and Steve attended Proviso East High School together, raised a family in Roselle, IL, and moved to Saint Charles where they have resided for the past 17 years.

Sue was a supportive, loving wife and devoted mother, imparting her good-natured attitude onto her children. She is survived by Eric Hill (Carly); Jacqueline Howard (John); and Christine Hill (Joshua).

Sue was a proud, doting grandmother as well, survived by her grandchildren: Logan, Auden, Isabel, Lucy, Michaela, Kolbe, Lucas, and Felicity.

Sue is also survived by: her mother, Jeanette Rees; her sister, Barb Sullivan; her brother, Larry Domalick; and her sister, Karen Elwood (John).

Sue’s other family and many close friendships, such as Alice, Barb, Tammy, Chris, and so many more, can all attest to her kindness and loving spirit. Her colleagues at the Village of Bloomingdale where she worked for over 15 years knew her as smart, dependable, responsible, and fun. She approached her duties with care and diligence, much like she approached other aspects of her well-lived life.

Sue was a practicing Catholic, a former member of St. Walters, Roselle, and current member of St. Patricks, St. Charles. Her faith was a source of strength and comfort for her.

As avid travelers, Sue and Steve traveled the U.S. and the world. Amongst her favorite places to visit were Italy, Florida, and Hawaii.

Sue had many passions and interests. She enjoyed gardening, ceramics, and cooking. Her rice pudding, baklava, and other culinary delights are hard to replicate and treasured family recipes. Sue was a music fan, especially of Sir Paul McCartney in Wings and with The Beatles. Generous with her positivity and smiles, Sue was a caring, kind, and compassionate person interested in playing card games and watching game shows. Sue was a natural Wheel of Fortune contestant—a fan of movies, soap operas, and binging shows of all sorts.

The journey wasn’t easy, but Sue was well-cared for and loved by her family. Sweet, caring Suzy: you are at peace in Heaven.

Visitation services will be held on Tuesday, January 4th, 2022 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., including a remembrance service at 6:30 p.m. at the Yurs Funeral Home in downtown St. Charles. A funeral mass will be held at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church on Crane Road at 10:30 a.m. on January 5th. Interment to follow at the Prairie Cemetery.
