It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Suzanne Marie Patkus, a loving wife, devoted mother and a cherished grandmother, who passed away at her home on Sunday May eleventh at the age of seventy. She was born on December 30th 1954 in Michigan City Indiana to parents Roy and Rita Lawson. She married her loving husband George Patkus on December 12th 1999.
Sue, as everyone knew her, loved people. She would give you the shirt off her back and the best hug in the world if you needed it. She could talk to anyone and make them feel like they have known each other for years. She made people feel welcome and always had a joke to tell. Sue was a wonderful caring mother that would do anything for her children. She adored all of her amazing grandchildren. She was so proud and thought the world of them. They brought so much joy and happiness to her life. Sue was an avid reader and never missed an episode of WGN’s early news broadcast with Larry and Robin or The Price Is Right. She loved animals and is now reconnected with her beloved cat Fidel. She will truly be missed by all who knew her.
Sue is survived by her husband George Patkus, Her children Danyon (Sue) Carpenter, Dyanne (Jackie) Cole and Katy (Brandon) Moore. "Katy, I’m so sorry to hear about your mom’s passing. I remember meeting her at your shower, and she shared her recipe with me for bbq pork sandwiches. They were delicious and, I still make them that way. She was so friendly and I know she will be missed by many. Lots of hugs and much love to you and your family."

"George, so sorry to hear of your loss. Sue was always great to visit and was terrific with my Grandchildren when Aunt Doris would come for a visit to your house."
Chloe Borton from Saint Joseph, MI
"I have a lot of memories of Aunt Sue especially when we would all gather for the Lawson family reunions. She has always been the life of the party, inclusive, and never afraid to show her true colors. One funny quip about her that I just loved was all of her accents, especially the super thick Chicago one (cooooassstinnn')...she will always be a comedian. I love you, Aunt Sue."
Jill Michel from St Charles , IL
"Sue had the best laugh! Thats all we did! Never a loss for stories (especially repeat stories of our fun times!) working with her, as much fun as just being with her (& her pool). She loved talking about her family & friends of many… I know you’re still Smiling & laughing forever Sue…. You are missed & always loved ❤️🙏"
