Teresa Hrabski, 89, died Sunday, Aug. 23rd in St. Charles. She was greatly loved by her husband, children, grandchildren, siblings, cousins and their families.
The oldest daughter of Joseph and Julianna Budiselic, Teresa was born on Feb. 17, 1931 in Cisna, Poland. On March 13, 1950, she married John Hrabski in Ingolstadt, Germany.
Teresa lived her early years in the mountain region of southeastern Poland, where she taught herself how to swim, one of her lifelong pleasures. She and her family endured much hardship during the war, and met her husband while in a displaced persons camp in Germany after WW II. Teresa and her husband immigrated to the U.S. in March 1951 and were always so very appreciative of living in this country.
She lived in Chicago until moving to Niles in 1968, where she eventually became involved in church groups that provided her many opportunities to travel within the U.S. and Europe on religious pilgrimages.
Teresa was a kind and loving individual who had a great faith in God all her life.
Survivors include son Vitold and daughter Elizabeth “Betty” (Jim) Murphy; granddaughters Emily (Adam Wonak), Erin and Teresa. She will be sadly missed by her sisters Harriet Guban and Maria Lojko and brother John (Elwira), as well as other dear relatives in the U.S., Poland and Canada.
She was preceded in death by her husband John and brother Alfred.
Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 A.M., Monday, August 31th at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 2900 East Main St., St. Charles, IL. Interment will be at Assumption Cemetery, 1S510 Winfield Rd., Wheaton, IL 60189. Family and friends will gather for visitation from 2-5:00 P.M., Sunday, August 30th at Yurs Funeral Home of St. Charles, 405 East Main St. (Corner of Rt. 64 and Rt.25).
