Todd Stephen Hewell Jr., age 89, of St. Charles passed away June 14, 2018 in St. Charles, Illinois.

He was born on January 18, 1929 in Chicago, Illinois, to Ruth Hewell Garretts and Todd S. Hewell, Sr.

Todd served in the Naval Reserve as a medical corpsman.  Todd also worked many years as a Sales Representative at Thomas Publishing Company until he retired in 1991.  People were drawn to his outgoing personality, optimism, and great sense of humor.  He was a generous man and volunteered at church and various organizations into his eighties.  An early resident of Westchester, Illinois, Todd was a founding member of Divine Providence Parish.

Todd was in the Knights of Columbus since May 15, 1954 and was a Third Degree Honorary Knight.  He was also a long-time parishioner of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.   He was a proud and dedicated family man.

Todd is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Marcella (nee Mihalcik), his sons, Todd S. Hewell, III, MD (Margaret), Charles F. Hewell, MD (Kathleen), and daughter, Carol J. Fredericks (late Paul); grandchildren, Kristen Anderson (Kurt), Lauren Hewell Fischer, MD (Josef), Todd S. Hewell, IV, Allison Hewell, Stephen Hewell (Alysse), and Kerrilyn Hewell; and great-grandchildren, Benjamin, Henry, and Margaret Anderson, and Leighton Hewell.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Charlene Higgins.

A Memorial Mass celebrating Todd’s life will be held Saturday, June 30 at 10:30 am at St. Patrick’s Crane Road Catholic Church, 6N491 Crane Road, St. Charles, IL 60175.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Todd’s name to Northern Illinois Food Bank:  solvehungertoday.org.
