Virginia “Ginny” Marie Wolak, surrounded by love in the comfort of her home, passed away on the morning of Tuesday February 13th, 2024 in South Elgin, Illinois at the age of 54.

An entirely beloved daughter, wife, and mother, Ginny is survived by her husband Ronald and her sons Ryan and Justin, among many other dear friends and family including mother Amelia Scaccia and sister Michelle Kellermeyer.

Her passing comes as a result of a twelve-year battle with cancer, throughout which she never lost her spirit and remained kind and grateful to her many caretakers in and out of the medical system. She never let her struggle define her.

“I have competed well; I have finished the race; I have kept the faith” 2 Timothy 4:7

A graduate of Hoffman Estates High School and Northern Illinois University, Ginny spent the latter years of her adult career working at Elgin Community College as a coordinator for their dual credit program, helping High School students attain college course credit prior to graduation. She would often speak of the fulfillment she experienced by helping kids and young adults succeed through education.

She lived her entire life in the Chicagoland area, from being born in the city, to attending school in Hoffman and DeKalb, to raising a family in South Elgin where they continue to reside. A remarkably knowledgeable sports fan, her passions will remain most prominently with the Cubs and Blackhawks. Getting to experience the World Series with her son Ryan was one of the happiest moments of her life. You can be confident that on summer Fridays at 1:20pm, she’ll find a way to be in the bleachers at Wrigley.

Ginny was an incredibly talented writer, famous amongst her community for her wit and ability to speak from the heart so clearly.

She was also a fierce friend, cultivating a tremendous village full of genuinely wonderful and caring people throughout her life. Ginny was especially close with her softball team, who she would be proud to call ‘family’.

Her relationship with her husband Ron was unwaivering and resolute. They each derived strength from one another, and his persistent care for her throughout her long journey should stand as an inspiration to us all.

For her two sons, their connection to “Momma” is truly special. Never as much as a single second passed where they had to question whether her love for them was complete and eternal. She would never let us say that she was perfect, but she truly was perfect to us.

Truly a beautiful soul, Ginny loved and received love with a depth and passion that could not be described in words, and she will continue to be cherished by all who knew her. Because of that, her heart and spirit remain.

“Some of it’s magic, some of it’s tragic, but I had a good life all the way”

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to St Jude Children’s Hospital, Cal’s Angels, and Anderson Animal Shelter.

Condolences
