Obituaries

William D. Kohanek, 94, died on February 16, 2023. He was preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Vesta Kohanek; and his brother, David. David died while serving in the Amy Air Corps. Bill was a longtime resident of Batavia and maintained a second home in Grand Detour.

Bill described himself as a antiquarian and was distinguished by the depth and range of his knowledge and the quality of the works he acquired and sold. Bill developed long term friendships with his customers and dealers. His secret was exquisite taste and a sense of beauty, he was truly a connoisseur and will be greatly missed by those who relied on his skills in decorating heir homes. Bill was also the quintessential character, known for his charm, humor and generosity. His enthusiasm for life, people and animals was contagious.

Bill will be laid to rest on Friday, February 24th, at 11:00 A.M. at Grand Detour Cemetery.
